Mei Hoffman (åįžį) was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and grew up as one of six siblings in a family that valued deep thinking and original expression. She came to America in her mid-twenties to further her studies and start her career as a landscape architect. While working for a firm in Houston, she met her future husband, also an architect, and together over time, they created a small conglomerate of companies spanning their interests in the design, printing, and publishing industries.
After devoting many years to that work, and to motherhood, Mei has now returned to her lifelong love of art.
Her primary focus is traditional painting, a classic medium that can offer unexpected windows into our contemporary world. Whether the subject is a vast landscape, intimate portrait, or abstract experiment, Mei always thinks about movement, light, and meaning. Even the simplest line tells a story in the way that it moves across the canvas.
Drawing from a lifetime of rich experiences and training, Mei hopes that people who look at her art come away feeling stirred from within.
